Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is quite a well-known herb for …. ¡cats! Most of them really love it.

But did you know that she is also an ally for the humans? Particularly for the human nervous system.

And catnip is an herb that is used for people of all ages, even babies.

Now…here´s the catch. This elixir has honey in it (an elixir is technically plant macerated in alcohol and honey). In general it is not recommended that children under one consume honey. I know some families choose otherwise and that´s up to each family.

However, if you want your baby who might have some gas, indigestion or nervous energy to consume catnip and calm their body, then mama can take the elixir herself and/or drink catnip as a tea (whether with dried or fresh leaves).

Even if you aren´t a mom or a baby, catnip can most certainly be an important part of your life.

Suggested usage and dosage for catnip elixir:

This comes in a 2 ounce bottle

In times of anxiety, whether low-grade or more extreme, take 1 - 2 dropperfuls of catnip elixir on top of the tongue or in a small amount of water that you drink. One dropperful is equal to 25 drops of elixir; you can also measure a dropperful as half of the pipette of your tincture bottle.

If you need the catnip elixir to work extra fast place the elixir underneath the tongue (this is how medicine gets into your bloodstream the quickest).

It´s nice to have catnip in your medicine cabinet to soothe nerves and prevent panic. Everything really is ok and catnip reminds us that that is so.
